Choosing a builder
Checks worth making on any builder, including us
The Federation of Master Builders recommends homeowners check these before signing anything. A good builder will be glad you asked.
A written, detailed quote
Compare like with like. A quote that’s far below the others should come with an explanation.
Insurance and membership
Ask to see insurance, and check trade membership on the trade body’s own website rather than trusting a logo.
Finished work and references
Look at completed jobs and speak to past customers about how the build went.
A contract and sensible payments
Agree a written contract and staged payments, and be wary of a large payment up front.
